Outlets of Des Moines Announces 2021 Blood Donation Drive with LifeServe Blood Center

ALTOONA, IOWA (March 2021) – The need for blood continues to be great. In response, Outlets of Des Moines (OutletsofDesMoines.com) is pleased to announce a blood drive on Saturday, April 3, 2021 with LifeServe Blood Center to be held in Space 120 near SKECHERS from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Participating in blood donation drives helps save lives, and LifeServe estimates that well over three hundred lives have been saved or sustained, with more than one hundred units of blood collected at the previous blood drives held at Outlets of Des Moines. “Outlets of Des Moines looks forward to another successful blood donation drive with LifeServe Blood Center,” says TJ Just, General Manager of Outlets of Des Moines.

Organizers will ensure that all donors are socially distanced and there will be ample distancing space for those waiting in line. The drive is by appointment only, please register at LifeServeBloodCenter.org. Complimentary COVID-19 antibody testing will be available for donors. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that the coronavirus does not pose any known risk to blood donors during the donation process or from attending blood drives.

LifeServe Safety Protocol

It is safe to donate blood. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that the coronavirus (COVID-19) does not pose any known risk to blood donors during the donation process or from attending blood drives.

Maintaining a stable blood supply in the weeks and months ahead is critical to our community’s healthcare.  Our number one priority is a safe and adequate blood supply supported by healthy volunteer blood donors.

LifeServe Blood Center is following the CDC’s social distancing recommendations. In order to keep people six feet apart, we are asking that blood donors take a few steps to refrain from congregating at donor center or blood drives unnecessarily. We’re working hard to keep our locations clean and to maintain proper social distancing.

In addition to health screening staff and donors, as well as extensive disinfection measures and sanitization, LifeServe requests donors to fill out a screening questionnaire via QuickPass on the day of donation (this needs to be done on the date of your appointment, no earlier). By completing your screening questionnaire ahead of time, you are skipping a step that would otherwise need to be completed at the blood donation site. This tool is one more effort to keep you and our team members safe and healthy.
